Campaign Statement & Views

Campaign Statement – Jimmy Pierce for Dare County Sheriff My name is Jimmy Pierce, and I am proud to announce my candidacy as your Sheriff of Dare County. As a lifelong conservative, I believe in protecting our families, defending our freedoms, and ensuring that law enforcement remains accountable to the people it serves. Dare County deserves a Sheriff who stands firmly for law and order, respects the Constitution, and upholds the values that make our community strong. For more than forty years, I have dedicated my life to public safety and service. That experience has given me firsthand knowledge of the challenges we face—rising crime, the devastating spread of illegal drugs, and the need to balance enforcement with strong community partnerships. I know that lasting safety is built when law enforcement works hand in hand with families, schools, churches, and community organizations. My leadership will be rooted in the principles of personal responsibility, integrity, and fiscal accountability. I will ensure that every taxpayer dollar is spent wisely and that resources go directly to protecting the citizens of Dare County. As Sheriff, my priorities will be clear and unwavering:

Strong Law Enforcement

Protecting Constitutional Rights

I will defend the Second Amendment, safeguard free speech, and ensure that the rights of law-abiding citizens always come first.

School and Community Safety

Our children are our future, and their protection is non-negotiable. By working closely with schools, parents, and local leaders, we will provide secure environments where young people can learn and grow without fear.

Community Engagement

A Sheriff should be visible, approachable, and accountable. I have worked to build strong relationships across Dare County, and as Sheriff, I will continue to listen, respond, and strengthen trust between citizens and law enforcement.

Zero Tolerance for Drugs

Drug trafficking, especially the threat of fentanyl, is destroying lives. We will aggressively pursue those bringing poison into our community while also supporting treatment and recovery for individuals seeking a second chance.

Attracting and Retaining Quality Employees

Public safety depends on skilled, dedicated professionals. Recruiting and keeping the best people in law enforcement, detention, and telecommunications will be one of my highest priorities, and I will ensure they have the training and support they need to succeed.

I am committed to leading the Dare County Sheriff’s Office with transparency, fairness, and resolve. I will never compromise on safety, and I will always stand up for the conservative values that guide my life and work. With your trust and support, we can ensure that Dare County remains a place where families thrive, businesses grow, and traditions endure. Together, we will build a safer, stronger, and more secure future. Keeping Dare County Safe.
